Why did we pour two bottles of red wine into a Hot Spring spa?

The setup was simple: we would pour two bottles of red wine into one of our hot tubs, and see if it could filter out the delicious impurities.
Liquid contaminants represent a particularly tricky challenge for most hot tub water care systems. Most of the impurities are able to pass through standard filters, and sanitisers can also struggle to deal with them effectively.
In a lot of ways this experiment was the ultimate test of water care system functionality: a common yet very challenging scenario, taken to the nth degree by pouring in far more wine than a spa would ever reasonably need to deal with.
