Portable saunas are perfectly safe, especially models that are as robustly built as those in the Tylö range. And thanks to high-end heating technologies, our portable saunas give you total control, allowing you to precisely adjust sauna conditions as and when you need.

That said, the nature of saunas means that it’s important to listen to your body and avoid extended periods sitting in extreme heat, and to take some precautions: 

• Stay hydrated, drinking water before and after every session.
• Listen to your body, and reduce the frequency or duration of sessions if you feel dizzy, nauseous or fatigued.
• If you have any relevant health concerns – heart problems, low blood pressure, pregnancy – it’s wise to talk to your GP about sauna use.

The word ‘traditional’ can mean different things in relation to saunas. It is most commonly used to describe the classic hot rock sauna, as opposed to modern infrared and hybrid variations. In terms of this definition, there’s no difference between portable and traditional saunas in the Tylö range, as our Halmstad, Reflection and Lulea collections tick both boxes.

Another way to define a ‘traditional’ sauna is a custom-built room that lacks any modern technology. Our portable saunas outperform these traditional constructions in a wealth of ways, including efficiency, temperature control, aesthetics, comfort, entertainment, maintenance requirements, and (obviously) portability.

With footprints as small as 97cm x 99cm, Tylö indoor saunas are incredibly compact machines that can take up less than one square metre of floor space – even our largest 3 person indoor saunas only cover two square metres.

You do need to budget a bit of extra space for clearance requirements, placing the sauna a minimum of 10cm from any walls, and ideally 20cm from the ceiling. Measuring 1.98m in height, Tylö indoor saunas will fit comfortably in homes with the standard ceiling height of 2.4m.

Tylö portable saunas come in both indoor and outdoor options. Both indoor and outdoor units are easy to assemble and install, no extensive construction work required. And if at any point you need to move the unit – selling your house, renovating your home, reconfiguring a room – they’re easy to disassemble too.
