Tri-Thermic™ Barrier System

There is nothing worse than heading out for a swim and finding the water has gone cold. It happens when insulation is thin and heat leaks away through the cabinet, leaving cold spots and a heater that works overtime just to catch up. The Tri-Thermic™ Barrier System solves it at the source. Built into every Hot Spring Endless Pools® swim spa as standard, its three insulating layers wrap every surface to hold heat, improving energy efficiency by up to 28%. The result is consistent warmth, lower running costs and a swim spa that is always warm and always ready.

Verified efficiency, lower lifetime costs
Verified efficiency, lower lifetime costs

Independent laboratory testing shows that Tri-Thermic™ improves overall energy efficiency by up to 28%. That performance is what allows Hot Spring swim spas to meet the strict APSP 14 National Standard and California Energy Commission (CEC) requirements. For owners, the payoff is running costs as low as $1 a day and a swim spa that stays warm through New Zealand winters and Australian shoulder seasons without quietly running up the power bill.

Smart insulation for dual-temperature models
Smart insulation for dual-temperature models

Dual-temperature models like the E2000 and X2000 hold two separate bodies of water at very different temperatures, so each side gets the insulation that suits it best. The larger swim area is wrapped in the full Tri-Thermic™ Barrier System, where the greater surface area and volume make heat loss the biggest running cost. The smaller, hotter spa side uses full-foam insulation matched to its compact size and higher set temperature. The two strategies work together to keep both zones warm, ready and easy on your power bill.

Three layers, working as one
Three layers, working as one

Tri-Thermic™ keeps warmth in the water, where it belongs. The system combines three distinct insulating materials across every surface of the cabinet and base, each playing a specific role:

  • EPS foam core: A dense 2 cm layer of expanded polystyrene, about as thick as your finger, fitted to the inside of the cabinet and layered into the base pan to form the primary thermal barrier.

  • Reflective foil film: A 1 mm reflective film, roughly the thickness of a credit card, backs the foam to trap radiant heat inside the cabinet and stop it escaping through the outer wall.

  • Thermal heat blanket: A 5 cm blanket of recycled textile fibres, about as thick as a rolled bath towel and also foil-backed, adds a final layer of resistance for maximum thermal performance.

Together, the three layers eliminate the cold spots and heat loss common in perimeter-insulated swim spas. The outcome is consistent warmth, lower running costs and a swim spa that stays ready around the clock.
